Trim the Tree

I am still very busy working on Christmas cards here and just love this image from Christmas past! Sophia, from Paper Pretties, is wearing a beautiful red dress paper pieced from red cardstock. This is to match the berries and candy cane stripes of this awesome Christmas paper from Echo Park. I used Mercy's sketch (MTSC100) for my design.

Sophia is colored with copics and the edges of the scalloped oval are sponged with Momento Cantaloupe. The background panel is embossed with Swiss Dots. I added a gold bow to keep it fancy!

Beautiful Things

Here is a card I made for today's Clean and Simple challenge at SCS to use sponging in your design. I used Taylored Expressions's Discover Your Wings (again!) because I love the sentiment as the focal image. I stamped that in SU Tempting Turquoise, stamped some Pretty in Pink Butterflies and then sponged Momento Cantaloupe all over the panel. The background panel is a simple white embossed with Swiss Dots. I used pretty in pink and some light teal for a card base. I stamped another butterfly on the pink cardstock, cut that out and added that to the top corner. A striped grosgrain tied with white grosgrain finish the card.

Happy Birthday Mary Kate!

Here is a card I made for my daughter's "BFF" and I used Taylor's sketch challenge (TESC134) as my inspiration. Her friend is really into tennis so I knew I wanted to use Tennis Anya from The Greeting Farm as my image. I flipped the oval on Taylor's sketch to fit my image. The image is colored with copics and the edges are sponged with Momento Pink. I embossed the pink panel with argyle and used a pink/yellow/green plaid for the panel behind. How very preppy! All the corners were rounded to fit the sketch and the bow and brads finish the card.

Shades of Brown

Here is my card for yesterday's Ways to Use It challenge at SCS, which was to use brown as the predominant color. Brown is not my go-to color when making a Christmas card, but this Jovial paper from Basic Grey really fit the challenge well!

I stamped a wreath from Outlines in Chocolate Chip and colored it with copics to match the designer paper. I cut it out with a Labels nestie and sponged the edges with So Saffron and Chocolate Chip. I used a sentiment from a Christmas Papertrey Ink set and stamped that on a longer panel of brown. I then used a piece of distressed-look designer paper in teal (from Basic Grey) to pick up the teals in the Christmas paper. I love the look of teal and brown together. A knotted bow at the top and some brass brads finishes the card.

Blast From the Past Blog Hop

I am so excited to be part of the Taylored Expressions Blast From the Past Blog Hop!
The Celebrate Life is just perfect for making a Thanksgiving card, which is what I worked on here. I stamped the pumpkin in black and colored it with yellow and orange copics. I then sponged around the edges with Momento cantaloupe, Stampin Up Close to Cocoa and Orange. I outlined that panel with a panel of orange cardstock and distressed the edges. I made my own designer paper to go with this image, stamping the leaves of this set with SU More Mustard onto mustard cardstock. The background panel is Close to Cocoa embossed with a wood grain Cuttlebug EF. I mounted that on orange, added a double ribbon and then used mustard for the card base. A sentiment on the mustard panel finished the card!
This one will go to my sister for hosting Thanksgiving!
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the hop!

CAS Trim the Tree

Here is the same card I made yesterday, only now in a clean and simple style. I colored the tree once again with copics and framed this with red cardstock. I used the same red for the sentiment. Before mounting the image, I scored two lines horizontally for added texture.
TFL and have a great day!

Christmas Music

I just love this paper from Echo Park! It was really the inspiration behind this card. I colored this beautiful tree from Papertrey Ink with copics used two different styles of the Merry Christmas designer paper as background panels. All of the panels are embossed with Cuttlebug EF swirls, to match the swirls of the dsp. All panels are mounted on black and the final card has a green base. A Red Riding Hood ribbon from SU finishes the card. Now I plan to use the same stamp for a CAS card. Off I go!

Discover Your Wings

Here is another card today! I had a bit of catch up to do with posting cards, but this one I did today for the Color Challenge at SCS, and yesterday's Clean and Simple challenge, which was a sketch challenge.
I just love this set from Taylored Expressions, Discover Your Wings. The colors for the challenge really worked well with this nature stamp, and I love how it looks in this CAS sketch design. I stamped the dragonfly in Perfect Plum and cut that out. I placed that over some stamped blossoms (from Taylored Expressions Celebrate Life), where I managed to get the blue in that was part of the challenge! I added a green gingham ribbon and added some blue buttons to give a little more blue!!

WISH Technique

Here is a card I made using the W.I.S.H. technique for the TLC challenge at SCS. The sentiment panel uses this technique. I took a light pink marker and inked up a plastic bag, sprayed a little water on the other side of the bag and mixed the two together. Then I added the white cardstock to create the marbled background. Very pretty and so simple. I stamped the image in a darker ink and cut out the panel with oval scalloped nesties. I used a background stamp from this same great set, Taylored Expressions Discover Your Wings, and softened the white by sponging some light pink ink. A background panel of light pink is embossed with swirls using a Cuttlebug. Both of these background panels are mounted on the darker pink. A striped grosgrain bow finishes the card!

Snowman season!!

Here is my card for this week's featured stamper challenge at SCS, honoring Angela Thomas. I chose a snowman card that she created, changing my image to an Outlines stamp I had. I kept the same layout, changing the background papers to some new Echo Park paper I was so lucky to find!! It's so fun.
I colored the snowman using copics and had to cut out the circle to match her design (circle nesties are on my Christmas list!! :) ) and mounted all of the elements in black paper. I matched her ribbon and sentiment elements, but included some new bakery twine to keep the festive red and white.

Give Thanks

Here is my card for today's Ways To Use It challenge over at SCS, which was to recognize Veteran's Day with a thank you or sympathy card.
I chose this bloom from the Celebrate Life set from Taylored Expressions as my main image. The designer paper from Basic Grey helped me decide the colors for this card. I embossed the dsp and the background paper with faux leather EF and sponged the edges of the dsp to match the sponging on the main image. I finished the card with a double ribbon and a button to match.

Thanks a Bunch!

Here is my card for today's Featured Stamper challenge at SCS, honoring Tobi Crawford. I chose a Pure Innocence image for the main panel, similar to Tobi's choice, coloring her with pink and brown copics. The middle panel is embossed with swirls and I sewed the edges. I combined two designer papers and sewed the edges of these as well. A layered prima added a bit of dimension. The main panel and sentiment are sponged around the edges with Pink Pirouette.

Time for You

Today's card is for the Inspiration Challenge over at SCS, which highlighted the sewing illustration of Miyuki Sakai. I saw the bicycle and immediately thought of Time for You stamp set.

I colored the bicycle using copics and paired that with this autumn colored designer paper from Basic Grey. From that I tied in the burgundy, sand and green colors. I embossed the dsp with swirls to give it a little more dimension and sponged the edges with yellow. I also sponged the edges of the sentiment and the main panel. A matching gingham ribbon finishes the card.

Green Birthday

Here is my card for yesterday's Ways To Use It challenge at SCS, which was to use green in a card. My inspiration for this card was the designer paper from Basic Grey - Urban Prarie Hayfield. From there, I chose the additional designer paper - Pixie Licious from Cosmo Cricket and the different shades of green. I thought this adorable image from Stamping Bella would be perfect for a Sweet 16 card I needed to make.

Fall Card

Here is the card I made for the color challenge over at SCS, which is the combination of Peach Parfait, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso. I had to do my best matching these colors and went with more of a clean and simple card today.

I colored the main image, the fall tree from SU A Tree For All Seasons, with copics and used the rust and brown as a mat. I embossed the main panel with wood grain and used rust and brown as a mat again. I added an additional layer of vanilla behind that. Some brads and a double layer of ribbon finish the card.

Birthday Cupcake II

Here is a card I made for the featured stamper challenge over at SCS, honoring Cheryl. I chose a birthday cupcake card to case, changing the image, colors and papers, but keeping the same layout, elements and style.
I chose this adorable digital image from Pink Cat Studios, coloring it with copics and punching it out with Spellbinders Nestiblities. I sponged Pretty in Pink around the edge to soften the white. The background paper is Cosmo Cricket, paired with Bazill green textured cardstock. A pretty bow and some brads finish the card.
