Whatnot Monday!

Happy Memorial Day! Hopefully you are enjoying a weekend of family bbq's, parades and summer fun. Today we are introducing two new digital images at Paper Pretties, Bayou and Garner. I chose to make a card with Garner today, shown here. He really could be made into an elf or a garden gnome, but I chose a gnome because of how popular they are these days and because of the bright colors I was able to incorporate, especially the red.
I colored the image with copics and cut him a little out of the circle shape. I outlined the image in red scallops. I embossed a blue panel behind the image to match the circles of the background paper. I added a sentiment from Paper Pretties and completed the card with a ribbon and some brads.
Thanks for stopping by today - be sure to stop by the Paper Pretties blog today and tomorrow to see the wonderful creations of the design team.

Whatnot Monday Release

As promised, here is my card for this week's Paper Pretties Whatnot release. Very late for me this week. I chose to use the Well Wishes image and used the Sweet Stop sketch (SSS109) for inspiration. The sketch also had a spin to make it masculine. That was easy with this image. I pulled the colors for the image from the background paper, which is actually a leftover Christmas paper from Echo Park. I colored the image with copics and tried to make the fence look a little washed out. I embossed the background red in distressed stripes to match the fence. Finally, I added a sentiment that fit perfectly and a matching ribbon.
Thanks for stopping by again!

New Paper Pretties Whatnot Release!!

It's Monday and that means there is another digital release at Paper Pretties and this week's images are too cute. The first one is Sawyer Mouse, who is paddling down the river on a leaf raft. I just love how he has his tail so neatly tucked in front of him!
The second image is Well Wishers, pictured here. My little girl loves all dogs, especially adorable ones like these, so I'll be using this image on a card for her!
Be sure to stop by the Paper Pretties blog today and tomorrow to see the wonderful creations of the design team. I'll be posting a card later on my blog so check back here too!

Taylored Expressions May Blast From the Past Blog Hop

I am very excited to be part of the Taylored Expressions Blast from the Past blog hop today. This month, the theme is to make a masculine card which is a bit of a challenge for me. I am definitely more into the cute images and flowers. To add to the challenge, none of the sets I have from TE really fit the manly bill. So I went with fruit! My husband loves chocolate and chocolate covered strawberries. I did leave off the bow and did not allow a single flower on the card.
For my card today I used Taylor's Berries and Cherries set, which I love. I used the sketch provided by Sankari Wegman:
I started with the center panel and made that a sentiment panel. I added some fruit, colored with copics, to the ribbon panel. This past week, I discovered the technique to make paper buttons and decided to use that in this card. I punched out some circles of red cardstock, glued them together and punched holes in the middle. Some bakers twine finished that element. Too cute! I added a strawberry above the sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Stamps - Taylored Expressions Berries and Cherries
Paper - Bazzill cardstock; Cosmo Cricket dsp
Ink - Stampin Up Red Riding Hood; Memento black

Feeling Groovy

Here is a card I made for the sketch challenge hosted by My Favorite Things (MFTWSC19) and the Technique Lover's Challenge (TLC325) to make paper buttons. I never thought to do this before but what a great way to coordinate background papers with the buttons. So easy to make too.
I colored the image using copics and paper pieced her dress to match the pink paper. Then I sponged some yellow around the image. To finish it off, I added some Stickles to the peace sign in order to make it more groovy. I embossed all of the panels with Swiss Dots.
The sketch called for five banner panels but my card would only fit three of the panels. I put the sentiment in the center panel and added those cool buttons to the outside panels.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Paper - Bazzill cardstock, My Mind's Eye Hazel and Gertie dsp's

Panda Bear

It's Monday again and time for two more great digital releases from Paper Pretties. Today's Whatnot releases are Beatrice Butterfly and Pasha Panda. I chose to use Pasha Panda for my card today since his expression is so cute, just sitting there in the bamboo shoots. I will admit using Kung Fu Panda as a reference for coloring panda bears, though this one is not nearly as fierce!
I colored the panda using copics and then sponged some blue around him, using a mask over the bear. I embossed the green panel behind him to copy the bamboo shoots. Some old Cosmo Cricket dsp gave me the perfect botanical background.
Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to visit the Paper Pretties blog today and tomorrow to see the fabulous creations from the design team.

Paper Pretties Birthday Blog Hop

Today is a very special Paper Pretties birthday - a very Happy Birthday to Nancy Bush - and to celebrate, we are hosting a birthday blog hop. Hopefully you arrived here from Jackie's blog. If not, be sure to start at the beginning at the Paper Pretties blog.
For today's card I used Sophia jumping in the pool in Make a Splash. Yesterday, my daughter went swimming for the first time this season. It's not quite warm enough here, but that doesn't seem to matter to the kids! That's what inspired this card for Nancy. I think this Sophia is so cute and I love to use this image for summer birthday cards. I colored the image with copics and sponged some blue around the edge. I went with the sketch for SFYTT May 2011. I chose purple because of the background papers from Echo Park. I've had them in my stash for a while, waiting for the perfect card.
Here's to Nancy today! Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! Next stop on the hop is Lisa Rasmussen.
Supplies used:
Stamps - Paper Pretties Make a Splash
Paper - Stampin Up cardstock; Echo Park Little Girl dsp
Ink - Memento black, blue; SU Elegant Eggplant
Accessories - Copics, Spellbinders Nestibilities, grosgrain ribbon

Tooth Fairy!

Happy Monday everyone! For today's Paper Pretties Whatnot release, I chose to use this too cute image of a tooth fairy. My third daughter just turned five, which is a big year (according to her!). She's big now (according to her!) and will soon be getting those wiggly teeth. Instead of a card today, I made a door hanger using the tooth fairy image. We plan to hang it on her door when she loses a tooth so the tooth fairy knows to stop by.
In addition to this ToothFairy image, Paper Pretties is also releasing Webster, shown here, who is swinging by on a tire swing! He's really cute too and great for a either a girl or boy card.
Please be sure to stop by the Paper Pretties blog today to see what the design team has for you this week!
