Big Gift

Here is another digital image from Whimsie Doodles, my only Black Friday purchase this year!!! Who doesn't love a sale on stamps :). This image is so sweet and perfect for a cute holiday card. I made this card for the monthly designer challenge at Whimsie Doodles and for the Sweet Stop challenge this week. It's been a while since I made one of these and the sketch is great this week.

I colored the image with copics and cut her out since she was a little too tall for the center panel of the sketch design. I like the music paper behind her anyway! I added two more coordinating holiday papers behind her, keeping everything very red and green. A ribbon and some buttons were all she needed. Cute!!

Oh My Stars!!

Today's Clean and Simple challenge over at Splitcoast is to be inspired by the following quote:

"I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night- Galileo"

As a physicist myself, I of course admire Galileo and the contributions he made towards astronomy and physics of motion. Little did I know he was a philosopher as well. He definitely did have a fondness for the stars.

I immediately knew I wanted to do a nighttime card with a focus on the star but started off in a totally different direction. This snowman and his coordinating sentiment from There She Goes was just too perfect for the quote by Galileo, only through the eyes of a snowman!!

Stockings were hung by the chimney with care.....

We are starting to decorate for Christmas around here so I thought this card would be perfect for a post. I love this image from Whimsie Doodles - purchased it yesterday during their Black Friday sale. This little girl reminds me of each of my girls on Christmas morning, going through their gifts in their PJ's, with messy hair!!

Isn't she adorable!! She took a bit of time to color, but after hosting Thanksgiving dinner, a little "me" time in my stamp room was well deserved. I made this card for the monthly designer challenge going on at Whimsie Doodles. Wish me luck!! Now back to decorating!

Thanks for stopping by today!!

There She Goes Snow Globe RELEASE DAY!!!

I told you yesterday that you had to wait until today to see WHY the new Holiday Cheer set was so versatile…well, wait no more! Not only is it a set that stands alone, the SUPER cute images were designed to fit into today’s set, Snow Globe! Along with a matching die, Torico has really out done herself!!

Snow Globe and Die is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 4 stamps and will sell for $29

This set is great! You can use the die to make a snow globe out of so many images. Here I used the too-cute girl from yesterday's release. This was my first ever shaker card, and while I must admit glitter falls out if you hold the card upright, the end result looks so much like a snow globe!

Dream

Here is my card for the Clean and Simple challenge at Splitcoast tomorrow. It was a color challenge using grey, tan and plums, inspired by this photo below:

I love lavendar, both the look of the flower and its beautiful fragrance. I wanted to keep with the distressed look of the photo and especially of dried lavendar. I used a grey woodgrain paper for my background and stamped some plum flowers on that. To bring in some tan, I stamped a large sentiment on kraft and ripped the edges. To the bottom I added some twine and a die cut flower.

TSG181 - Let It Snow!

Here is another Christmas card for you. The weekly challenge at There She Goes today is to make a card with snow - Let It Snow (TSG181). This image from There Shes Goes Penguin Pals is just so perfect for the challenge and so stinkin cute!! After I colored him up, I added a bit of glitter dust to the hat and pom pom and to the ground and snowflakes to really emphasize the snow. So fun! I haven't been stamping for a while due to Hurricane Sandy, so I really enjoyed spending time on this card.

Here's a closeup of the snowy hat:

I also made this card for the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge, shown here:

Seasons Greetings

Here is my card for the Clean and Simple challenge at Splitcoast this week - a sketch challenge (my favorite!). The sketch called for these lovely large banners. What a great fun way to add different designer papers into a card, while adding dimension and interest. I went totally Christmas on this one, with a rich jewel toned look. We had our first snow here this past week following the terrible hurricane. The snow put me in a bit of a Christmas mood (though I will admit it doesn't take much - I love Christmas!). The snow is gone now and we are expecting temperatures in the 60's tomorrow!

The stamps I used for this card are There She Goes Seasons Greetings. I pulled the sentiment and a simple tree to embellishment my card a bit. Stop back later today for another Christmas card using an adorable TSG set Penguin Pals.

Swiss Autumn

Its good to be back stamping again after a bit of a hiatus as a result of Hurricane Sandy. We were fortunate in that we are safe with no damage to the house, unlike so many on Long Island. We were without power for 11 days, but power was finally restored yesterday and things are getting back to normal here.

My card today is for last weeks Clean and Simple challenge, an inspiration challenge based off a Pinterest photo of Swiss Autumn, shown below. I tried to capture the reds and yellows of the photo and also loved the mix of blue and brown in the photo as well.

I created the pile of leaves by using the masking technique, using two sizes of leaves from There She Goes Bountiful Blessings. I colored them by sunlight through my basement window, sitting at my daughter's Play-doh table to capture the best light!! The lengths we go through to stamp! Once the lights returned I was able to put the card together.

Stampbook Saturday

Happy Saturday! It's my turn to host the Stampbook Saturday page over at There She Goes. I am trying to keep up with my fourth daughter's scrapbook. I just finished her first Christmas and now today I have her first birthday! I purchased the When I Grow Up set from There She Goes just so I could do this page. The set is so cute for both boys and girls but it really captures cute memories for me with the girls trying on the big shoes. All four of my girls did that!
Stampbooking is a great way to add depth and a cohesive theme to scrapbooking. Try it out for yourself!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to stop by the TSG blog too!

Honeycomb Ornament

Happy Friday everyone! It's my turn to host Anything But a Card over at There She Goes today and I have a honeycomb ornament using the There She Goes Just For You die that was just released last month.

I have seen this done before on other blogs and thought any die that was symmetrical should work, and I was right!! This was super simple to make, though it used a ton of glue dots. Stop by the There She Goes blog to see all of the directions I posted on how to make this great ornmanet.
