Happy New Year!

My Mom requested that I make a Chinese New Year card for a good friend of hers. She always has a hard time finding them in the store. I took advantage of the awesome sketch challenge at Splitcoast (SCS421) yesterday, using that for my design.

Since red is such a prominent color in the Chinese culture and during the New Year, I decided to use that as my highlight color. I love any card with pops of red. I didn't have a Happy New Year sentiment, but found this one from Papertrey Ink that works perfectly. This card really highlights the papers, especially using this sketch. Hope you enjoy!

You've Wrangled My Heart!

Here is my card for the Guest Designer challenge at My Favorite Things. I was happy to get a little "me" time  in my stamping room and used it to ink up this cutie. I haven't colored this Pure Innocence in a while so she was the lucky one! I followed the sketch below, changing it up a bit to make it a Valentine.

The image is colored with Copics and her skirt is paper pieced. I cut out the heart using my Cricut and the fence was cut out using Die-namics. I originally put a few loops of twine on the fence, but then decided to take the sentiment more literally! Too cute.

Thanks for looking and wish me luck!

A Friend

Hi there! I have really been putting in some time in my stamping room these days, trying to keep up with some challenges and build my stock of cards. Today's card is a friendship card using My Favorite Things and is for the weekly sketch challenge at MFT (shown here:)

I changed it up slightly on the bottom. For the flower I used Pretty Posies Die-namics and cut out flowers with three different papers. I then alternated the layers and folded the edges up a bit to give more depth. I added a flower vine using the flourish Die-namic. I love how the green, orange and brown work together here.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Kelly

Supplies used:
Stamps - MFT Clearly Sentimental about Friendship

Ink - SU Choc Chip
Paper - Bazzill, Crate Paper
Accessories - MFT Die-namics (Pretty Posies, flourish), ribbon, brad

TSG192 - Wood Grain

This week the There She Goes challenge is brought to us by our Trendsetter of the week, Tracy!  She has challenged us to make a card or project using something that is VERY trendy right now, wood grain!!

For my card today, I immediately went to the new Heartfelt Thanks stamp set for the natural wood grain. I stamped the image on a light pink dsp, cut it out, and then lightly colored the trunk. I wanted it to stand out today, and highlight the pops of brown on this pink card. The light brown panel behind it is embossed with wood grain.

To be eligible for the giveaway, create a card or project using this challenge, and then come back to the TSG Blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of this challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (February 4th). The winner will get a $5 gift certificate to use in the TSG Web store!

By participating in this challengeyou may also find yourself in the Trendsetting Spotlight that shines on the TSG Blog every Thursday. We will be on the lookout to find challenge cards that stand out and show Trendsetting qualities. TSG stamps are not required to participate in the challenges but are appreciated :)

Snowbuddies

Please scroll down for There She Goes Boot Camp/Get in Gear Blog Hop Challenge!!

I had a chance to make a card this afternoon so I played along with the sketch challenge over at Splitcoast. I thought these Snowbuddies would be so perfect for the design. I colored them up to match the background paper, which I chose because I thought it looked like a warm sweater :). It is 10 degrees outside here though no snow in the forecast.

Stop back tomorrow to see a sneak peak of the new Valentine's stamp from There She Goes.

There She Goes "The Doxie With Moxie & Size Matters" Blog Hop Challenge

It’s no secret, we are DEFINITELY in love with everything Torico does here are There She Goes, and we know you are, too. This month she has honored us by creating a set that we have been begging for…meet The Doxie with Moxie!! When brainstorming The Doxie with Moxie set, there was a lot of chatter about sentiments…and some of them took a turn for the funny, but…risqué, lol! We couldn’t live without them, so we decided to create the Size Matters set. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely funny!!

Sassy Pants

Hello! Here today with another card for you - this one for my daughter's friend who is turning 7. I think Pure Innocence was made for this age!! This is one of my favorite images from them and the sentiments are even cuter. I made this for the weekly sketch challenge at My Favorite Things (MFTWSC107) and for a new challenge at Splitcoast - You Can Do It challenge. This week it is paper piecing.

Here is the sketch I followed:

I changed where the sentiment banner is placed because I wanted to use the longer sentiment and it just didn't fit! I added a bow to keep an element there. The image is colored with copics and the dress is paper pieced.

TSG188-Sponging with Diecuts

Happy New Year 2013!! I enjoyed the holidays here and was able to get a little "me" time in today to make a few cards. Today's card is for the There She Goes challenge TSG188, Sponging with Die-cuts. I love using this technique to really make the image pop.

I used the owl from the newly released Smarty Pants set for my card today. I thought the sentiment was perfect for a new year's day card. I cut out the white circle, stamped the image inside it. Then I put the circle back into the circle die and sponged some yellow around the edge. This leaves a crisp white edge around the circle of yellow. I cut a larger circle of green and embossed it with dots.

Stop over at the There She Goes blog and join us for the challenge this week!
