Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Well, not yet but soon enough! I made this card for the sketch challenge at splitcoast today and for the first Hope You Can Cling To challenge for this year. This event is held in October in support of breast cancer awareness. Several challenges are posted each day. All cards made for the challenges are to be sent to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas to brighten the days of patients and their families.
The first challenge was to use a technique called paper tole where the image is stamped several times and different parts of it are raised up. The highest layer is curved with a stylus to give it a 3D look. My card did achieve that (so cool!) but my camera just doesn't show it :(.

This is such a labor intensive technique - the image alone took two hours to complete! Great results though and fun to learn a new technique.

Heartfelt Thanks

Today's Ways to Use It challenge at Splitcoast asked us to use a tree on a card. I went for a thank you card using this pretty tree of hearts from There She Goes (still miss them :( !) I colored the tree with copics and popped it up over a background of pink and brown. I added a white picket fence using a MFT Die-namic to cut it out.

Thanks so much for looking!

Happy Fall!

Happy Fall! I just love this time of the year - my favorite season. I love the colors, the smells, everything pumpkin and a hot coffee on a cold day. This scarecrow is perfect for the season. I colored him with copics and followed the sketch at Splitcoast today. I embossed the narrow panel with a basket weave and added a few rounds of twine to add some texture to the card. Love it with the polka dots. Left off the sentiment so it can be for Halloween or Thanksgiving.

Best Witches

Today I have a Halloween card to share with you. I made this for the color challenge at splitcoast today, which was to use purple, honey and white together on a card. Well this sweet witch goes so well in those colors! I love this image from Inkadinkado. She is colored with Copics and cut out. I created a spooky background for her by sponging inside a circle mask.

Hope you enjoy!

The clean and simple challenge at Splitcoast today honors tessaduck (Brenda). I used a die cut of an apple (from MFT Die-namics) on my card and embossed it with a basket weave. I inked up the embossing folder before putting the die cut to give it more dimension. This will be put away until the spring when I need thank you cards for my daughters' teachers.

Happy Birthday!

My friend's son just turned five yesterday so I chose this cute little man to celebrate the occasion. Masculine cards are not usually my thing but I do love using orange on a card and it just so happens that is one of his favorite colors. Lucky me! I colored the image, a digital from Whimsie Doodles, using copics and cut it out. I embossed a panel of blue to add a contrast color to the card. The embossing folder is new (I seem to like polka dots!).
I'll be back with another post soon! I seemed to have found some crafting time now that the kids are back at school!

Gate Fold card

I tried a new challenge today over at Splitcoast, called a Gate Fold card. Such an easy technique with really cool results. The fun balloon die-cuts were my inspiration for my card and I used them as the center focal point. The rest of the card was just fun papers to go along with the colors of the balloon. So easy!
Here's a peek at the inside, which uses a coordinating paper of a simpler design with a sentiment.

The balloon die cuts are from My Favorite Things and the number die if from Papertrey Ink.
