Happy Birthday!

Here is my card for the MFT sketch challenge today. I love these challenges but this week was a little tough for me. I love lots of layers with smaller panels but this was the opposite. Regardless, I'm happy with my birthday card. 

It's impossible not to love this little girl and she looks so cute in purple! I used a Die-namic plate to punch out the holes on the pink panel. My background of purple is embossed with large polka dots.

Here is my card for the sketch challenge at splitcoast today. I chose my one of my favorite PI's from MFT, Cute-a-tude for today's card. I colored her with copics and paper pieced her dress to match the panels in the back. A big gingham bow finishes the card!

Happy Birthday Bella!

My friend's daughter is turning three tomorrow so I wanted to make her a fun birthday card. She's become my buddy over the past year, though I think she visits just to hang out with my dog!! This card is also for the weekly sketch challenge at MFT, shown below:

I added another panel above the yellow polka dots to give it a little more pop. The girl's dress and balloon are paper pieced to match the background papers and the image is colored with Copics.

You're So Cool

My daughter is going to an ice skating birthday party in a few weeks, so I knew I had to ink up this cute PI from MFT. The sketch this week is so much fun to work with and really lets the papers do the work. I colored the image with copics and paper pieced her dress to match the papers behind her. The rest of the card follows the sketch below:

This card is a little busy for me but I do like the quilt look of the whole thing and I love how the blues, brown, white and burgundy play off each other.

Let's Celebrate You!

Here is a card I made for the first ever MFT Color Pallete Challenge. This one was to use pink, black and white on a card.  For this challenge, I chose this adorable Pure Innocence for my card, making another birthday card for my stash. I paper pieced her dress and colored the rest of the image with Copics. The background panel of black is embossed with Swiss Dots and the sentiment is cut out using MFT Die-namics Sentiment Strips. Groovy Girl

I have found that I never have enough birthday cards, especially groovy girl cards for my daughters' friends! Here is a card I made for a past MFT sketch challenge, shown below:

I used MFT Groovy Girl for the image, coloring her with copics and adding a bit of sparkle to her peace sign. The rest of the card followed the sketch and brought in pink and orange to add that groovy touch!

You Inspire Me

Here is a card I made for the LOVEFEST at Splitcoast - this challenge hosted by My Favorite Things, to make a card that will make someone's day. I also made this card for the sketch challenge from last Wednesday. Trying to keep up with those - they are always such great sketches.

I used MFT My Favorite Sentiments for my card today. I sewed around the edges (haven't done that in a while) and added a pretty flower made using several layers of die cut flowers. A button center from the matching cardstock was made using a button die (love that!). I also used a third die to make the flowers leaves. Easy card today and a little taste of spring. I am hopeful here in the northeast!

You've Wrangled My Heart!

Here is my card for the Guest Designer challenge at My Favorite Things. I was happy to get a little "me" time  in my stamping room and used it to ink up this cutie. I haven't colored this Pure Innocence in a while so she was the lucky one! I followed the sketch below, changing it up a bit to make it a Valentine.

The image is colored with Copics and her skirt is paper pieced. I cut out the heart using my Cricut and the fence was cut out using Die-namics. I originally put a few loops of twine on the fence, but then decided to take the sentiment more literally! Too cute.

Sassy Pants

Hello! Here today with another card for you - this one for my daughter's friend who is turning 7. I think Pure Innocence was made for this age!! This is one of my favorite images from them and the sentiments are even cuter. I made this for the weekly sketch challenge at My Favorite Things (MFTWSC107) and for a new challenge at Splitcoast - You Can Do It challenge. This week it is paper piecing.

Here is the sketch I followed:

I changed where the sentiment banner is placed because I wanted to use the longer sentiment and it just didn't fit! I added a bow to keep an element there. The image is colored with copics and the dress is paper pieced.

Here is my card for the Clean and Simple challenge at Splitcoast tomorrow. It was a color challenge using grey, tan and plums, inspired by this photo below:

 

 

 

 

I love lavendar, both the look of the flower and its beautiful fragrance. I wanted to keep with the distressed look of the photo and especially of dried lavendar. I used a grey woodgrain paper for my background and stamped some plum flowers on that. To bring in some tan, I stamped a large sentiment on kraft and ripped the edges. To the bottom I added some twine and a die cut flower.

Pumpkin Time!

The Clean and Simple challenge is a Harvest theme over at Splitcoast today. Harvest to me means pumpkin picking, hay rides, and corn mazes. My kids love carving the pumpkins and I love the toasted seeds. Actually I love almost everything pumpkin, including but not limited to pumpkin coffee, pumpkin ice cream and pumpkin pasta!!

 

The pumpkin is the star of my card today. It's a great image from MFT, and I thought it did not need to be colored. So pretty with the shading of orange. I tied in some papers and elements to carry the fall colors, while still keeping it CAS.

Power of a Manicure!

 

 

I cannot believe it is October already!! It is my favorite time of year and not because of the amounts of candy that enter my house at the end of this month! I just love the fall season, decorations, warm foods and colors.

 

Here is my card for the Clean and Simple challenge today at Splitcoast Stampers (CAS190), which is a color challenge to use coral, turquoise and yellow. I wanted to use this great alm from My Favorite Things and was determined to make it work. My biggest issue, of course, is keeping it clean and simple! I think I accomplished that while still using a few designer papers to incorporate the colors of the challenge, as shown here:

 

This MFT image is great for accompanying a manicure gift for someone's birthday. I have a craft fair coming up later this month and wanted to make a few of these in my stash. I colored her with copics and paper pieced her skirt. She is cut out and popped up over yellow gigham (love!!). I hope you enjoy!

Falling Leaves

 

Happy Fall everyone! I know it's early but it is my favorite season and three things mark this season - back to school, pumpkin spice coffee and mallomars back in the stores! That's here in the northeast anyway. I actually love the colors and temperature of the autumn season more than anything and tried to capture a bit of that on my card today. This card is for the Clean and Simple challenge today at Splitcoast, which was to use a color blocking technique.

 

I found this sentiment from a My Favorite Things Autumn set and paired it with some leaves from There She Goes Bountiful Blessings. For color blocking, I used a solid stamp from a Stampin Up Priceless set, choosing shades of orange and yellow.

Sweet as Can Be!

 

Snuck in a lttle stampy time today before I head off to the soccer games! My card today is for the featured stamper challenge at Splitcoast Stampers today, honoring Angela. I chose this really cute Pure Innocence from My Favorite Things for today's card, casing a card from Angela's gallery. I paper pieced her dress in a green polka dot and went with red accents to match the basket of strawberries.

Sassy Pants

Hey, Sassy Pants!! I love this little girl, one of my new found favorites from My Favorite Things. She is wearing a lovely dress paper pieced from some Stella and Rose paper from MME. I colored the image with copics, cut it out and popped it up over a dsp with script for a background. The rest of the card follows the sketch from the MFT Wednesday sketch challenge for this week:

This was a fun sketch to follow. I added a scallop border to the middle using two layers of scallops cut using MFT Die-namics Large Scallop border. I added a bit of brown twine to the top of this, tied with a coordinating button. A final banner with a sentiment was the finishing touch for this card with Cute-a-tude!!

Go USA!!

I am a huge fan of the Olympics, especially the summer games. I thought it would be fun to make a team USA card to show my spirit, and what better than this cute a la mode from My Favorite Things. How great is she!!

This card is another one for the DTGD challenges at Splitcoast, this one for a sketch challenge, shown here:

a challenge to use chevron stripes and a challenge to use a hexagon. I immediatly thought of a medal, which I put part of the sentiment onto.

The image is colored with copics and the rest of the card followed the skech, flipped on its side.

Lots of cards this week as I try to complete all of the challenges for the DTGD week at Splitcoast. I have two cards that I made tonight:

This first card was for a sketch challenge, a color challenge asking for pink and orange and a challenge asking for bling. The stamped image and sentiment are from My Favorite Things.

This next card combines a sketch challenge, a challenge to make an anniversary/wedding card, a challenge to combine sewing with a love theme, and finally a challenge to use double embossing. I am not sure I accomplished the double embossing. I used a negative embossing technique with dry embossing. Hope that counts! The stamped image is from There She Goes.

DTGD Begins!

Today starts a week of challenge at Splitcoast called Dare to Get Dirty, my favorite time over on that site. There are multiple challenges every day and prizes to be won! Today is the first day and also my birthday :). To add to the fun, it's raining here in the NE, so I have nothing better to do today but create new cards! But it gets better!! I received my prize of Bazzill Card Shoppe sampler pack that Ribbon Carousel generously sent my way. Happy day:)!!

Music Inspired

Here is my card for today's Ways to Use It challenge (WT385), which was to be inpsired by music. I also went with the sketch from yesterday's sketch challenge (SC395) and the Word Play challenge from this month's Summertime theme, which was to use the word HEAT.

The musical paper was my first thought when I started this card and I went in the direction of a quote. However, I remembered this great image from MFT. I was going along perfectly to match the sketch from SC395 until my sewing machine decided to give me trouble, resulting in a few extra holes below where the image is. I tried brads and buttons, but ultimately went with an additonal music paper panel.

For the word play part of this card, I made it according to the following:

MFT Sketch Challenge

Hope you are enjoying a nice weekend! Here is a card I made for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge (MFTWSC10) hosted by My Favorite Things. I chose this Pure Innocence Flower Girl image for the main image and colored it with copics to match the designer paper. I took out the sewing machine again and used it on every panel for this card. I even sewed a little heart to match the sketch! The blue panel and the background dsp are embossed with birds and swirls. No room for a sentiment on this packed card!
