Paper Pretties Whatnots Release!!

Introducing Betty!!
How cute is she mixing up a batch of loveliness! This is one of the latest digital images that Artish has created for Paper Pretties, and just in time for Valentine's Day!

I colored the image with copics and cut the cake out of the rectangle to make that cake stand out (I've been watching carbs so even that paper cake looks delish!!). I used some super cute paper from Little Yellow Bicycle that went perfectly with this image. I added the embossed red half circle to give the card a bit of an apron feel. I thought her expression said it all, so no sentiment, but a pretty double bow and some brads were all this card needed. Stop by Paper Pretties to see the other delicious images this week and check out the creations from my super talented team mates!!
TFL and have a great day!!

Recipe for Love

This is my second post for today so if you are looking for the Paper Pretties birthday blog hop, please scroll down below this post. Thanks!!

Here is a card I made for the My Favorite Things February Guest Designer challenge called Recipe for Love. The challenge was to make a card with one patterned paper, 2 cardstock colors and 3 embellishments, all to a Valentine's theme.

For my card I chose this Pure Innocence image holding a cupcake. She is so sweet. I paper pieced her dress with the sparkly polka dot paper (my only patterned paper here) and colored the rest with copics. I used the sketch from The Sweet Stop (SSS93) as my design. For the two cardstocks, I chose pink and red of course. I embossed the pink and the red cardstock with Swiss Dots. Everything is up on dimensionals so this card is not one for the postal service!!For my embellishments I used a grosgrain bow, a button and some white brads (I didn't count the twine since I used the ribbon too.). The sentiment is from a different MFT set, but fit with the image, theme and layout.
TFL and have a great day!
Supplies used:
Stamps - MFT Hello Cupcake; MFT What's Up Cupcake
Paper - Bazill pink, red, Taylored Expression white; Doodlebug designs dsp
Ink - Memento black; Stampin Up Red Riding Hood
Accessories - Grosgrain ribbon, twine, button, copics, brads, Cuttlebug EF, dimensionals

Happy Birthday Amber Hillman!

We are celebrating a Paper Pretties birthday today, for the very talented Amber Hillman, and in true Paper Pretties fashion, we are hosting a Birthday Blog Hop for Amber!! Hopefully you found your way here from Katie's blog. If not, start back at the Paper Pretties blog to see all of the wonderful creations.

For Amber's card, I chose this super sweet fairy digital image - I just love the eyes. I paper pieced her dress and colored the rest of the image with copics. I sponged some light purple around the edges to soften the white. The same was done to the sentiment. The card design follows the sketch challenge at Splitcoast this past week. I embossed the light purple with Swirls and Birds, and used this same embossing folder on the background polka dot paper. The horizontal panel matches the dresses.
Thanks for stopping by today. The next stop on the birthday hop is Lisa!!
Supplies used:
Stamps - Paper Pretties digital; Paper Pretties sentiment
Ink - Stampin Up Almost Amethyst
Paper - Bazill purples, white; Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather

Inspiration Challenge

Here is my card for the inspiration challenge (IC269) at Splitcoast, which was a collection of room designs from an amazing designer. I was inspired by the pinks and yellows of the room, the stripes and the florals.
I chose this flower from the Bloom set from There She Goes (one of my favs) and colored the flower with copics to match the paper. I sponged some Memento Cantaloupe around the edges (love that look!). I embossed the horizontal panel with swirls and added a ribbon and scallop border. The sentiment is softened with the yellow as well. I added a simple bow at the top to fill in the corner.
TFL and have a great day!

Paper - SU Purely Pomegranate, So Saffron; Basic Grey dsp

MFTWSC4 Happy Birthday Maria

Here is a card I made for a very good friend, who happens to be a big fan of yoga. She has tried to get me into it, and I admit I was a critic, but it is a great exercise! I am a runner so I had a hard time believing you could work up a sweat doing poses on a mat - I was sooo wrong!
Anyway, back to the card! I made it for the MFT sketch challenge #4, which is called for the use of their new dies, which are must-haves! I don't have them but improvised. This image is a rectangular format, so I cut out the border around it and put it on a circle nestie. Before doing so, I paper pieced the shirt and colored the rest with copics. Since I don't have the die for the circle border, I used a bigger nestie, cutting out a piece of coordinating paper. The background is the same paper used for the shirt, only embossed with distressed stripes to match the white circle, for kind of a nature feel. The rest of the card was a bow to match the sketch and a sentiment. This will be a birthday card, but I thought this sentiment worked!
Supplies used:
Stamps - MFT Namaste
Paper - Stampin Up Purely Pomegranate; Bazill coral, white; Stampin Up dsp
Ink - SU Purely Pomegranate; Memento Black
Accessories - Copics, Spellbinders Nestibilities; Cuttlebug, grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals

Here is a card I made for the Sweet Stop sketch challenge this week. I inked up this image from There She Goes (Wonderful Winter Wishes), which is so adorable. My one year old had her first real winter in the snow this year and really enjoyed playing in it. This reminded me of her!!
I colored the image with copics and sponged some light tan around the edges. This smaller image worked perfect for the sketch. The sentiment; however, was not as cooperative! (but I just love it!) I embossed the background pink with swirls to match this pink heart dsp. There is a pink grosgrain ribbon with a pink gingham layered over it. Underneath the ribbon is a scallop border to match the sketch. Three brads along the image were the final parts of the sketch and of my card!
TFL and have a great day!
Supplies used:
Stamps - There She Goes Wonderful Winter Wishes
Paper - Bazill pink, browns; Taylored Expressions white; Basic Grey dsp
Ink - Memento black, brown
Accessories - Copics, grosgrain ribbon, brads, sponge, Cuttlebug EF, gingham ribbon, scallop border punch

Chinese New Year

My Mom has a good friend who celebrates Chinese New Year and she always has trouble finding a card in the store. So for the past few years, I have made one for her and was so happy to find this digital image at Paper Pretties. Isn't Sophia just beautiful in this outfit??

Wednesdays are Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge day and this week the challenge (PWC 138) is to use sewing on a card. I love the way sewing looks on a card and it does take a bit more time but so worth the effort. (My sewing machine is now part of my stamping room!!) I colored the image with copics. I chose two different papers to go with the colors of the outfit and followed the SFYTT sketch for January. The background coral is embossed with Swiss Dots. I sewed around the edges of all four elements and then put the card together according to the sketch. I added a double ribbon treatment. I didn't have a Happy New Year sentiment so I added a circle of more dsp to follow the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by and head over to Paper Pretties to join the challenge too!
Supplies used:
Stamps - Paper Pretties digital Fantastic Sophia
Paper - Stampin Up River Rock, Bravo Burgundy; Bazill coral, white; SU dsp

Here is a quick card I was able to make for the color challenge (CC307) over at Splitcoast, to use Soft Suede, Red Riding Hood and Elegant Eggplant.

I chose this cute image from There She Goes - Wonderful Winter Wishes, and colored it with copics to match the challenge colors. I embossed some suede colored paper in the background with snowflakes. I added a grosgrain bow and a button tied with twine as embellishments. The image and sentiment are popped up on dimensionals.

MFT Sketch Challenge

Here is my card for the weekly sketch challenge at My Favorite Things (MFTWSC3). I have long been a fan of these Pure Innocence girls and this cupcake image is no exception!
I paper pieced her dress with polka dots to match the background paper, which is embossed with swirls. The rest of the image, including the delicious cupcake, is colored with copics. To follow the sketch, I added some flowers (MFT used a snowflake) punched out of the same dsp, layered them and added them to the top left corner of the image with a brad. The plaid background is embossed with swirls as well. I added a ribbon to each panel, including a bow with the top one. Finally, the sentiment is sponged with pink and I place it at the bottom of the image instead of the top because the cupcake got in the way!!
TFL and have a great day!

Happy Birthday Jessica Fick!!

Happy Monday and a very Happy Birthday to Jessica Fick! She is a Prettie Girl and we are celebrating at Paper Pretties with a Birthday blog hop to honor her. For the festivities and also to mark another great Paper Pretties Whatnots release, I chose this adorable and luxorious cat, PuRRRty Girl for Jessica's card. Isn't that cat too much! I colored the image with copics and chose some girly touches for this card, including the floral papers and the prima flowers. For the flowers I used a prima on top and cut two additional flowers out of the same designer paper using dies. All of the panels are framed in white for a crisp look.

Before you continue on the blog hop, check out this too cool bear - Pauly the Guitarist, another fabulous release from Paper Pretties Whatnots. I am always looking for masculine images and this is a perfect one for that. I colored Pauly with copics to match this peace sign designer paper left over from my daughter peace sign phase (Lucky me!) and matched that with the blues. I added a sentiment to the horizontal panel along with a double ribbon treatment.

My First Easter card!!

Not that I make that many of them! However, I wanted to play along with the Featured Stamper challenge at SCS today (FS207), featuring Emily this week. I chose a card of Emily's that was clean and simple and had an image from Pink Cat Studio cut out.

For my card, I printed the Easter Lily image from Pink Cat Studio and followed Emily's idea of cutting it out. If you are not aware, I have difficulty with the whole Clean and Simple design. I love the look of it and I did try to accomplish that, but as you can see from the card, I strayed a bit!! I used the new Little Girl paper from Echo Park (sooo cute) for my background and added a horizontal ribbon panel on top. I embossed the white of this panel with distressed stripes. All of this because I wanted to added this beautiful gingham ribbon. The bottom of this panel has a scallop border. Finally the sentiment is from Paper Pretties and is punched out with Labels Nestibilities, with a pink background. I sponged the sentiment with pink as well.

IC268 - Inpsired by Barbie !!!!

Growing up I was not a Barbie girl, though my mother did try. She also tried ballet and tutus with me and that didn't work out either! My daughters, however, have somehow inherited the gene and cannot get enough Barbie. It's an inside day today due to the cold weather, so they are already fussing with the dream townhouse!

Anyway the inspiration challenge at SCS today is to make a card inspired by Barbie. I love the yellows and plaid of this doll, All That Jazz, and came up with this card. I also needed a baby card for a shower - how perfect!!

I used Papertrey's Bitty Blessings for my card today, choosing a favorite method of mine - paper piecing. I embossed the carriage piece to match the background panel. The rest of the card is all scallops in greens. Hoping to get some more time stamping today while the girls are in Barbie world!

TFL and have a great day!

Paper - Bazill yellow, green, white; Echo Park dsp

SSSC100 Wrapped in Joy!

Here is my card for this past Sunday's Sweet Sunday sketch challenge (SSSC100). I borrowed this adorable set from my good friend Jodi and couldn't wait to ink it up!
I have been on a bit of a paper piecing kick this week but it is such a nice accent to a card. This time I paper pieced the dress with the same polka dot paper used in the background circle. A plaid purple is the perfect background. Actually this card is totally purple, a color I do not use that often, but I love how this all went together. The color choice was because of the Winter Mitten paper that I just got my hands on (thanks again Jodi!!). The rest of the image was colored with copics.
TFL and have a great day!

PWC 137 Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge

I know it's Thursday, but it's not too late to take part in the weekly challenge held at Paper Pretties every Wednesday! This week the challenge is to use paper piecing (PWC137), which is a technique I use frequently!
For this challenge, I chose one of Julia's digital images which was perfect for this technique. I paper pieced that main part of the dinosaur with the polka dot paper and colored the rest of this adorable dinosaur with copics and cut the image out with a circle Nestibilities. The backside of this polka dot paper is the plaid, which worked perfectly with this design. I embossed the background with Circles and added a Happy Birthday sentiment with a masculine bow.

Welcome to my stop on the Taylored Expressions blog hop. I am so thrilled to be part of the festivities today!
For my card I chose to use Taylor's Berries and Cherries set to go with the "Love" theme this month. I also chose to use the wonderful sketch by Sankari Wegman, though I switched the position of the vertical panel. For the main image, I used a carton a strawberries and colored it with copics. I chose a perfectly coordinating designer paper from Cosmo Cricket and used reds and greens throughout the card. The red background is embossed with Swiss Dots. I used a scallop border punch for the horizontal panel and tied that up with some bakers twine. The sentiment and main panel have the green scallops as well. Some white brads are the finishing touch.

Here is my card for the color challenge at Lori Boyd designs (BLDC-1), their first challenge. I chose this adorable Lollipop Ella for my image. These images all remind me of my little girls - so sweet. The challenge was to use these colors here:
I colored the main image with the pinks and greens of the challenge and picked up the blue in the designer paper, sponging and the ribbon. I cut out the image using a scallop oval Nestibilities and sponged some blue around the edges. The circle panel is Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday - Sunday paper, which combined the colors perfectly. The striped panel is the back side of this same paper and I added a double ribbon and sentiment to this panel. The pink background is embossed with Swiss dots. A few brads at the top were the finishing touches. TFL and have a great day!

Who Loves You?

Before I get started on the card, how do you like the new blog design? I have been looking for a design with shamrocks and stumbled upon this cute design.
Now about the card :). I chose this cute image from Paper Pretties digital stamps "Owl Always Love You" to make a card for the weekly sketch (SSS91) at The Sweet Stop. This sketch had a spin to use dry embossing, which is not a problem for me! My challenge would be to make a card without it!!
I colored the owl with copics, cut it out and popped it up with dimensionals. I went with the browns and reds to match the image. This image did not really call for a sentiment but the sketch did so I added a lovely thought! TFL and check back tomorrow for the Taylored Expression blog hop!

Paper - Bazill browns; white; SU dsp

I used Taylored Expressions Friendship Blooms stamps and coordinating dies to make the flowers and for the sentiment. I used dimensionals to pop them up on the back panel of dsp, cut out using a Nestibility. I added a grosgrain ribbon across this flower panel to match the inspiration. It's Monday - Paper Pretties Whatnots Digital Release!!

Happy Monday once again and time for another amazing release from Paper Pretties! I have two cards for you again this week, one of the adorable George Luge Puppy and cute little Romeo cutting out his valentines!
This first card features George riding his sled down the hill and so reminds me of my 4 year old this past week when we went sledding. I colored him with copics and went with the bright blues for his sled. I picked a bright background paper to bring out these blues. The horizontal panel is embossed with circles and finished with a bow. I used a sentiment from a Cooper stamp that went perfectly with this image.

This second card features the ever so cute Romeo hard at work. I colored him with copics and cut the image out with a Nestibility. I sponged some light pink around the edge and then used a larger red circle as a background for this panel. I found some sweet paper to match this image and to keep with the valentine theme. I finished this panel with a grosgrain ribbon, button and twine. Finally, I added a background panel of kraft.

Being Cute

Here is a card I made for the Wednesday sketch challenge at My Favorite Things (MFTWSC2). This is probably one of my favorite images from the Pure Innocence line. I colored her with copics and cut the flowers slightly out of the shape to fit the sketch. I also sponged the edges with some yellow to soften the look. The background panels are all about polka dots and red! I sewed around the edges of both of these panels. Finally, I used my Nestibilities to cut out two circles, embossed the top one and cut them in half to fit the sketch. Some brads and ribbon accents were the finishing touches. I also added a sentiment from another set, just in case this card didn't have enough going on!!

Gliding By

Here is my card for the Wednesday Challenge over at Paper Pretties, which is a sketch challenge this week (my favorite!) PWC135. I used an old favorite of mine, Gliding By. We are big fans of ice skating here - my older girls just got their first pair of skates from Santa and my four year old just had her first successful ice skating lesson (with Mommy!) this past weekend. So fun.
Anyway, I colored Sophia using copics in blues and browns to match the designer paper. I modified the bottom element a bit to fit the sentiment. I love how the browns and blues work together on this card with a pop of red. I embossed the ovals and sponged the inside of it with light blue. The blue vertical panel behind the image is embossed with snowflakes.

Drakein the Dragon!!

Thanks for stopping by today. I made a card for the sketch challenge over at SCS and was very excited to use this new digital release from Paper Pretties, Drakein the Dragon. How funny is he. His expression is really cute, almost as if he doesn't notice the flames! Anyway I colored him with copics added a sentiment of my own to his sign. I flipped the sketch on its side to accommodate the size of the dragon, and even had to cut his feet and flames out to fit the sketch. Kind of out of the box! I popped up the yellow panel and the image panel on dimensionals. Even got to use my new border punch.
Sure will make a cute birthday card for my nephew!!

Paper Pretties New Release

It's Monday and that means there's a new release of Whatnots digitals over at Paper Pretties. This week features three new images - the Berisova Ballerina, Drakein the Dragon and Gelasius Giraffe. The giraffe is a freebie over at Paper Pretties to celebrate the first official post of the new Digital Design Team! He's free for a week so hurry over to Paper Pretties to add him to your collection!

I chose the very whimsical Berisova Ballerina as my image for today's card. Too cute!! I colored the image with copics and paired it with some pink and green designer paper. I embossed the background with Swiss dots. Some Stickles add a little sparkle to the trim of the tutu and the collar. A final bow of pink gingham finishes the card.

Paper Pretties Celebration!!

How cute is this giraffe!! This adorable image was created by Artish to celebrate the first post of the new Paper Pretties Digital Design Team. It's yours free for the next week - just stop by the Paper Pretties blog to grab this cutie!
To make this card, I colored the main image with copics, even that red heart tongue! I kept with the yellows and browns for the background and added a sentiment of my own that I thought was perfect for this giraffe!
TFL and have a great day!!

SFYTT Sketch Challenge

Here is a card I made for the sketch challenge over at iheart2stamp (SFYTT January2011) using my brand new set from Taylored Expressions - Friendship Blooms. My very cool SIL and friend got that for me as a belated birthday present. What a fun set to work with, especially with the coordinating dies to cut out the flowers. I stamped the flowers and stem on cardstock, cut them out and popped them up on dimensionals. I added a sentiment to the main image panel as well. I love the bright colors of this card and how well it worked with the sketch.
TFL and have a great day!
